Is Facebook a vote winner?

More politicians are attempting to use social networking sites to communicate with the electorate and younger voters. What is the best way for politicians to communicate with voters?

Labour MP for Blyth Valley, Ronnie Campbell, has with the aid of two students established a presence on the social networking site Facebook to create links with younger voters.

This week the Prime Minister's wife, Sarah Brown, also became a top tweeter, with more followers than celebrity tweeter Stephen Fry, although Mrs Brown tends to steer clear of political statements, tweeting more about the practicalities of day-to-day life.

Do you think politicians and political parties should use social media sites to communicate with voters? Is this a good way for politicians to get voters more interested in politics? Are you a young voter? Do you follow Sarah Brown or Ronnie Campbell?
